Security shutdown....won't start!

I'm up and running again and this has probably been posted here before, but it happened to ME this time!! Stopped at a job site to pick up a check and when I went back to my truck it started, ran for 2 seconds and died. Key off, I waited, and then started it again..... ran for 2 seconds and died. Key off, I waited, and then tried to start again and it would just crank but not start. Called 800 number and they said they couldn't get anyone to come tow in my area!!! I called a local guy I know and had it towed to dealer who said that my truck "thought" it was trying to be stolen because the key was not recognized as the correct key!! WTF??? They asked me if I carried another Dodge key in my pocket, because apparently our key to our truck can pick up a code from another Dodge key and cause the security feature to kick in. I did not know the truck would even do this!!! And, I DO NOT have any other keys that have security codes or any Dodge keys at all. THEN they tell me it could have been just a glitch!! Some glitch when they can't come tow you in!!!!!!!!! #@$%!

I do not like the security (sentry) key deal on my 06 either.

Is there ANY way to override it?

Its going to be a big pain in the tail when the truck is 5 or 10 years old to get one of these keys made.

Your're not alone. It happened to me yesterday (starts - 2 secs - stops).



I opened the hood to check for any loose wiring, found nothing, closed the hood and then guess what, the truck started and ran just like usual...



Might have to do with relays too? Dan

Yeah it is kind of a hassel and there is no way to disable it or get around it. . I hear about it every day at work here, but dont worry about getting keys made in 5-10 years, I think they started in like the 99 GC's and a few other vehicles around that year range and we still cut them every day its not a big deal at all, more of a pain for the customer then anything else which I will say is not right on chryslers part but I cant change that.

My truck keys are by themselves, but my Pacifica and Magnum keys are together. My wife has those 2 together as well, and we've never had that problem.

My buddy scored an '07 ST. Manual windows,locks,and no sentry key!

Had the same problem with a 98 V-10 on the way to FL. in 2000. Computer had to be replaced.

Do you have to have the "security system" enabled to experience this problem?



I always figured that if I manually locked my doors ( without using the key ) that I would be free from the situation as described above.
