The factory Security System doesn't seem to have a remote start. you know walk away from the car without arming and have system arm itself after x amount of time. Can the system be modified in anyway? Can I even hook up a siren to alert in addition to the horn blowing? Or would you recommend an aftermarket unit?

Thanks

Don't know about factory system, but the majority of the aftermarket shops around here are not enabling such a feature... . too many people in the past just left their keys and fob in the vehicle, walked away, and it locked itself..... I personally went for the aftermarket. I have the 791 Viper, but would have been just as happy with the less expensive 550.....

Mine won't arm itself, I do know that. I did accidentally "arm" it one time though. I was stopped to open my gate and as I was sliding out of the seat to get out, my arm pushed the door lock down without me knowing it. I promptly shut the door with the truck running, the FOB hanging in the ignition just as pretty as you please. Not good. Luckily the first thing I did when I bought the truck was to have a key made and I put it in one of those key holders in a hidden location outside the truck. This key won't start the truck because it doesn't have the inbedded microchip, but it will open the door.

I did go to the local hardware store & purchased a key For $1. 50. It is used only for access to the vehicle not to start it. Keep it in your wallet, you never know.
