When I installed my auxiliary fuel pump I put it in the fuel line along the frame. At the same time, I installed an inexpensive ball valve to shut off the fuel. I drilled a hole in the valve handle and attached a push-pull cable, such as you find on lawn mower throttles. I routed the cable to a location near the driver's door at the bottom of the body. It's not visible unless you squat down.



Pulling that cable closes the valve. The truck will move about 50 feet and then shut off with the valve closed. It also won't start easily after it dies. Trust me, I know.



Good, cheap security.

I wish someone would make a decent priced thumb scan that would shock the bejesus out of whoever tried to use the truck that was not authorized.



Common trick I know people use is a cut off switch on the ignition. Hidden somewhere.

My wife and I had an 84 Olds Cutlass. They were a high theft car in the early 90's. My brother-in-law gave us a $15 security system from JC Whitney. It consisted of two relays and a flashing LED. If you did not turn on a hidden switch, it would kill the starter and energize the horn. I modified the cigarette lighter to make it the hidden switch. If you forgot to push in the lighter before starting the horn would honk when you turned the key. It was probably the best alarm I'd ever seen, for the money.

You don't say what year truck you have so we are guessing a bit. I have two theft delay switches. One of them must be on or the fuel solenoid will not work. The other must be on or the starter will not work. One switch in is plain sight on my switch panel with an incorrect label. The other is hidden.

I just pull the starter relay out of the fuse box under the hood when I go fishing up north!!!

I have a pushbutton switch mounted on the drivers seat skirt, near the seat controls. Its in the wire to the starter solenoid; unless you hold the button down while starting it won't crank. I don't have to turn anything off, take anything out etc---just hold the button down with my left hand while cranking--cost about $3. 95 plus about 8 feet of wire.
