automatic overdrive questions

GOOD find, would make a great project vehicle, I like the older ones because you can remove the back cap. Looks like allmost no rust, must not have spent much time in mas. 4bt would be good for mileage, but i'd be more apt. to stick with a 5. 9. Too bad it don't drive.

Heck, a 4BT, why not a 6 BT? I think a 4 BT would be a bit weak in this thing!! IMHO As for transporting the thing: A Dodge ram (with a CTD) of course, a trailer, and 2 days of your time you could be the lucky new owner of this prize !!!!

Just put a trailer behind the ol' Travco, and go out and get it. Can't be that bad of a trip. Hell if $ is right i might make a weekend and pick it up... LOL

Looks Very clean, and as stated above. The rear cap is removable, wich would be awesome when you take it to the dunes. You do plan on making it to the dunes with that, right ;) LOL

Take it easy Don

Wouldn't that require heavier axles, beefed up suspension, and possibly (GOD FORBID) something like a body lift???#ad

Sorry but I'm trying to keep this simple. If a 4bt can move Lees 6000lb M715 around with the greatest of ease, then I don't know why it won't do OK in a 4500lb K-Blazer.

If I remember right, a 4BT is not all that much lighter then a 6 BT. And its pretty much the same height as one also. Any one else out there, feel free to chime in with your thoughts on the subject. I'm pretty sure folks have put 6 BT 's into 1/2 ton trucks before with out " major" fabrication.

Well gang, I'm not above the 6BT option, but I'm not gonna rebuild the whole damn truck from the ground up to pull it off either. I ain't the Discovery Channel, so I do not have $10,000 worth of welding equipment on hand, let alone the skills to use it. :(

Don, are'nt you the one that knocked off the old motorhome conversion?? IMHO a 6bt into that ol Chebby should not be any more difficult to do. Anyone else????

A 6bt would be the way to go... heck my kid put one in an S-10... . you know one would fit in this. Would be nice power.....

Trailer to trailer hook up. See if one of the Mass guys will bring it 60 miles closer, and so on, and so on... .....

A 4BT will make more power than that 6. 2. And shouldn't be hard on driveline.

Don,

Do you have a hitch on that first gen house?

If ya make that run, I'm in NW Ct about 2 hours away from N Oxford, Ma.

You can overnight in the driveway with the trailer if you need to.

Jay

Da house has a hitch, but I won't have time to make a trip of that duration until wayyyyyy later in the fall.

Best quote I've recieved so far is $500. I think I'll probably just go with him.

Yeah, that was me (see sig). The way everybodies acting right now though, I'm suprised I wasn't chastised for not putting an 855 Big Cam in the sumbitch.

So, are you thinking about using the GM transmission and all?

I am thinking about a 4bt and a GM 700R4 out of a Diesel Blazer in my Wagoneer. I was hoping the flywheel and flywheel housing from a Frito truck with TH400 would be cheap and easy to find and work with the overdrive transmission. I'm also hoping sicne the 700R4 was in a Diesel, that it would shift at the right RPMs. What do you think?

The 700R4 in this thing is going in the junk pile, where it BELONGS, IMHO.

I think I've got my heart set on a TH400/NP205 combo (hopefully this thing has the 3. 08 gears in it?). But of course, everything is subject to change until it's all nailed down and bolted in place for the final time.
