Self Blend Synthetic

Is there any reason I shouldn't do a do it yourself blend synthetic/dino crankcase oil? Though there are commercailly syn blend products, they aren't readily available. I also have read that (in the gas versions) the syn % is fairly low, ~5%.



I was thinking of 1 gallon of 5W-40 syn + 2 gallon 15W-40 dino. I have 14k miles so far, over 5k with a 3500 lb camper.

why??? straight synthetic is good. you don't have to be scared about the 5w part. . heck, i run a 0w40 syn year round...

If your going to blend I would use oil from the same manufacturer, that way the additive packages should be compatable.
