I don't know if this is a real valid question, but.
I have a 2004.5 Ram 2500 Quad Cab with 90,000 miles. I have made some good mods to it. (PAC Exhaust Brake, Edge Box, Air Bags, Dura Grappler Highway Tires(3,900lbs), 4" exhaust, and no CAT).
I purchased the truck new. It runs strong, and I really love the truck.

So here is my question. I tow a 13,000lb 5th wheel toy hauler. It tows OK, and stops fine with the exhaust brake. But I would like a heavier truck, just to feel safer. I want a 5500 Cab Chassis, but I hate having to deal with the EGR, DEF, DPF and all that goes with it.

Is it worth dealing with all the pollution stuff just to get a heavier truck? Extra maintenanceand less mpg and $70k

if yours is paid for.. id have to say no. but its your bank account.. may favorite truck is my early04.
any other reason you want the C&C? for just a 13K trailer? way over kill.
the epa stuff is ok if the truck is worked as designed and not ran to the grocery store 1 mile down the road.

The 2013-up emissions system takes care of itself so I don't have a problem with the new trucks. Also, check out the 3500s because they are much more truck than they were 10-12 years ago. My SRW 3500 gets up to 20.5 mpg at 75 mph solo, and is rated to tow 17,000 lb. You don't have to spend 70K, either, to get a capable truck.

For a 13k trailer there is no need to change trucks. A 5500 is only 2k heavier than your 2500 for that you have a much harsher unloaded ride, less horse power, less fuel mileage and no spare tire mount but you do get a bigger fuel tank.

Ditto ..your truck is plenty good. I can't imagine how stiff your ride will be with only 1500# on the hitch...teeth rattling for sure.

If you decide to sell, please give my buddy at work a shot at it. He wants mine and I gotta face him daily. Besides, we want to increase the CTD count in our lot to 3. We can come right up.*:-laf
