Here I am

Selling truck tomorrow

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies

Thanks, TDR Staff

Now how about this - an amphibous wrecker?????

Heritage of 5.9 and 8.3.....

My 99 is going in. The BMW (bike) dealer I work at, well the owners also own the Land Rover new/used dealer next to us. I am going to take it in tomorrow and see what I can get for it.

I am still curious what I should ask for it. I owe $10,000. I would be happy to get that and break even but should I ask more?

*99 4x4 2500

*5-speed, 3. 54s

*reg cab, long bed

*camper package

*brand new Cummins LP

*bed rail caps/tailgate cap

*tires 285/75/16s on stock 6. 5" wheels, 50% tread

*BHAF/straight pipe, SS tip

*130,000 miles

*Cummins Power badges, worth $1000 (HA!)

Problems:

*VP44 dying but still driveable (216 code)

*front rotors slightly warped

*leaking PS pump seal

*cracked windshield with beauty mark (8 inch target shaped crack which would have opened up and let the rock hit me in the head if the rock came through)

*oil pressure sender dead

*and last but not least, the pits, scratches, dents, dings associated with a 6 year old truck which worked for most those years hauling "stuff"

Now, like I said, give me $10,000 and I walk away owing nothing, but with no extra. Ask for $11,000 or $12,000, I make a profit.

Only thing really going for me is that I want the bike from BMW, the sales managers know eachother, and if they really want to make a sale on a bike, then they may work with me. Plus, get all the BS fixed on my truck, and they could resell it at a profit, i. e. , more profit then they would on a bike...

Thanks, Nick

So your leaving us Nick for a German Bike? GRRR.

Ya, i would ask 11k for it and stand firm... Are you planning on getting another dodge or is this farewell?

Erik

Erik,

Well, yes I am leaving... ... temporarily. I will be back, don't worry. I actually won't leave the TDR at all, though. Just a short hiatus from owning a truck. The bike will be a more efficient, cheaper way to go for the summer. I am looking to get an 02 QC shorty 4x4 6-speed or auto if I bomb it, probably next spring or summer.

I wasn't pushed to buy this truck, but my old tired 86 F-250 6. 9 died on me and I was in a hurry to get a truck. I decided on the 99 but wasn't really what I wanted. I will eventually need more passenger space and less bed space. This way I will still be able to (hopefully) put it in our garage at the apartment.

I will let you know how it goes today! Thanks!

A catalytic cracker, or "cat cracker," is the basic gasoline-making process in a refinery. It uses high temperatures, low pressure, and a catalyst to create a chemical reaction that breaks heavy gas oil into smaller gasoline molecules. With a cat cracker, more of each barrel of oil can be turned into gasoline.

:-laf

I always wondered what that meant. Deviate ways to kill the neighbors feline tresspassers came to mind

Cat, the Land Rover guy I took it to didn't know about it. This other place I am taking it on Monday probably won't either. So I'm not mentioning it!

Anyway, Land Rover's GM knew a fellow dealer that would take it for 9000 at least, maybe up to 9500 when he looks at it on Tuesday.

I am taking it to a second dealer on Monday who is definitely interested since they specialize in older used diesels. So, then I will get an answer and maybe a better offer than Land Rover gave me.

BMoeller, I am going to get an AWD car for the winter!

That'll work. :D :-laf

My dad used to work for Case. There were 2 guys that had a bet going, to see who could drive their Harley to work the longest, in the winter. Think it went 'til Jan. or Feb, before one of them had had enough. :-laf :-laf
