Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Is this a "53" engine?

My fuel guage dropped to empty yesterday. It was suggested to me to change the fuel module instead of just the sending unit. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks Jim

It's almost always the sending unit. As long as your truck runs good and there are no leaks it does not make any sense to change the fuel module.

Jim,

The sending unit is snapped into place on the entire fuel canister and I wanted to remove it during the modification for my Vulcan draw straw procedure. I couldn't figure how to remove it with out breaking it. I've heard it's an expensive assembly. Dropping the tank for service is easy but, I changed all my fittings to JIC 06 because the factory connections are no fun to deal with if you decide get into this.

My adventure was a full fuel modification so the JIC's were just part of the job that allowed easy tank service. If you have to get into this I suggest you do the AirDog with the Vulcan draw straw set up and then serviceability becomes very easy after that.

Good luck,

William
