Here I am

Sensorship on the TDR ????

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Problems with server or not!

"stealer" censorship on this site.

WOW,,,sensorship seems to be imposed on the TDR now. .

Although i do fully understand the administrator's point,,,,and greatly appreciate the TDR group... . Dealers telling us to stop calling them STe_lers seems a little extreme,,,,,they asked for it buy always trying to rip every dollar out of your wallet,,,you drive on their lot with a new Cummins Ram and right away you will be paying threw the nose for anything... . after all,,you're driving a very pricey truck,,so you can afford it,,right??

Again,,i do appreciate the administrtator effort to keep everyone happy. .

But thats just my opinion,,i could be wrong.

I think some people don't understand that the TDR is a private business. The owners make the rules and the members/customers have to abide by them or leave. It's just that simple. If you had a business like this I'm sure you would feel that way too.

Since I have join the TDR I have found so many places where I can get parts that I need for my truck without having to go to the dealers to get them (PDR , DDT , BD , Diesel Injection Service and on and on) I wonder when the Dealers are gonna start complaining that the TDR is costing them money . I know that some of the Dealers have help out on some of the rallies that have happen out there around the country and they have been spoken highly of but I wonder just how many dealers have help the sponsorship of the TDR lately.

Although I have never used the word "stealer" ( I have a good Dealer ) I dont mind those who do.

If it croaks, is green and lives in a pond call it a BULL frog. If they void your warranty because you rotated your tires call them a "stealer".

I wish the TDR would have told the dealers to clean up their own act and not censor our opinions of lousey, 5 screw service.

Again, I have two good dealers and have had no problems with them, some of the stuff I read scares the stuffing out of me.

Wonder how long it will be before the dealerships get on Dave for having "Dealers, the Good the Bad and The ugly", if they can force the TDR to silence some members venting about bad service hopefully Dave wont have to change his site to "Dealers, the Good, the Good and the Good. "

I love the TDR and mostly agree with the leadership (except for the worthless Sam M. and his BS) but I have to respectfully disagree with this move.

I have emailed Robin regarding my feelings and would encourage others to do the same. Nevertheless, we need to abide by the new rules and either complain to Robin or shut up about it.

Why is a dealer stealing from you if he overcharges you for parts?? They can charge whatever they want for parts- it certainly doesn't mean that you have to shop there. Nobody gripes about what you charge in order to make a living- After all its free enterprise. There are good dealers and bad dealers, and prices will vary. Do your shopping, buy where you want and GET OVER IT already.

As far as emailing (AKA whining) Robin and TDR admin about the problem... ... ... ... ... ... they have far better things to do with their time. And Remember, you pay for a quarterly magazine- NOT the website and forums. Those are just side benefits. And, nobody is forcing anyone to do so.

Just my opinion.

Where do I go to get a dealer ONLY part? That's not free enterprise, that's a monopoly.

Yes, they do, and worrying about dealers being called stealers probably isn't one of them.

I think this PC thing has gotten out of hand. When one person complains they don't like something, everybody has to change to suit them. Let's just call them ?ealers, and let them decide what letter(s) to substitute for the question mark. The truly good dealers won't have any problems, and the others, well, "if the shoe fits"... They can fix it or not.

My dealer is good to me and when I need a dealer part I have no choice but to pay there price. My dealer has also at times rolled there eyes at what I have learned about my truck from the TDR. And had I not had the info at hand I would have likly been taken advantage of. Point being is this I think calling them a stealer on the tdr is a low blow I may have done so myself with regrets for doing so. Next time I will just keep my opinion of my dealer between myself and My dealer I am very comfortable with telling the dealer how I feel. My conclusion is that the tdr and its administrators did what they feel is in the best interest of us the members. My intent here is to simply show my support and respect for the tdr and its members. as to the dealers its up to us to let them know in person how we feel about them. I know my dealer always wants to know. and I am very frank with them and they At times reluctantly respect my opinion.

Thanks in advance for not bashing me for my view of this fine organization.

With respect to all

I have found very few dealer only parts- parts can be had from parts houses, cummins - yes I'm sure there are dealer only parts, but there is not a set price on any of them anyway. There are RADICAL price differences between dealers- I hardly call that a monopoly.

I'm not trying to play sides here, I think that there is over reaction on both sides. I happen to be well connected for dealer parts, and have been very well taken care of by the two dealers I use. My point is that this situation is no different than any other car or machine would be. You buy the machine, you're going to eventually be at the mercy of the price of replacement parts. It's just flat out the way it is.

I guess what I meant to say was that I doubt it will cause a change in the policy. However, you are right, it does specifically say to contact them:rolleyes: .

Censorship?

I am reading each e-mail, PM and post regarding this topic with sincere interest. For the record, I have received approximately:

- 10 e-mails opposing my request.

- 4 e-mails supporting my request.

- 1 PM opposing my request.

- 0 PM supporting my request.

You can read the relevant threads, so I won't recap those opposing/supporting here.

Background and Additional Information:

After receiving requests to have the reference "Stealer" better managed (if not eliminated) on the website, I wasn't convinced we had a problem. So, before acting, I did some homework.

I ran some reports over the past six months. The word "Stealer" had been used 644 times during that period. That works out to 107 incidents each month.

Then, I looked at some (but not all) of those posts.

I saw that the word, "Stealer" was mutating from the situation where it was being used to describe a specific situation (which we had allowed without question) to one where it was becoming many users' standard, accepted reference for all dealers.

The word that I use for this is stereotype (defined as: an oversimplified conception, opinion, or image. ). And as I get older, I grow increasingly uncomfortable with stereotypes. I find it difficult to use the words "all" or "never" with any seriousness when referring to others.

I don't want this website to become a place where (if even in fun), "All dealers are stealers. " Nor do I want it to be a place where "No dealers are stealers. " What I want to do is encourage users to share details/facts about good, as well as bad, experiences. I cannot recall a single incident where we "disciplined" any user for posting the facts associated with an experience with a dealer. And I am not trying to discourage it with this simple request. Simple courtesy is all this request is about.

For those of you who have taken the time to send me professional, courteous e-mails/PMs, I thank you. I am reviewing each one with an open mind.

i'll tell you, if i had to sell $30,000 items to stay in business, i would be making more than 10% margin.

these guys literally make their money on service, parts, and financing and real estate! ..... (my brother owns 150 dealerships - 2nd largest owner in the US. )

I guess it hurts their feelings when we call them names. Like they say, "if the shoe fits. . "

I've had experience with 2 Dodge dealers. One of them sucked big time. Took them 3 days to diangose my faulty lift pump and used profanity at me. He did not like the fact that I was educated and got the info from the internet. I have not gone back to any Dodge dealerships since and paid for my third lift pump out of my own pocket.

I don't about you, but any dealer that uses profanity at their customer deserve to be called names.

Disclaimer: not affiated with any vendor or dealer. I pay for all my stuff.
