I have the SENTRY KEY system on my CTD. The head of the SENTRY KEY (very expensive) contains a small transponder that is interrogated upon turning the key in the ignition. The transponder in the SENTRY KEY then responds with the correct code and the vehicle computer allows the engine to start and continue running.
It is possible to start and run the engine by using a cheap normal key in the ignition and placing the SENTRY KEY in the interrogation field along the steering column during engine cranking. After the engine starts the SENTRY KEY is no longer needed.
I want to be able to use several cheap normal keys. There must be a good location to secure/tape the SENTRY KEY in the interrogation field under the dash.
I would appreciate someone who has researched and utilized this system advising me of a good specific location to secure the SENTRY KEY.
