Quiet aftermarket exhaust

ScanGauge II transmission temp

Is there any exhaust vendors making an exhaust pipe/adaptor that would draw EGR gas after the DPF verses the current system of right from the manifold? Looking to make a mod that would allow the EGR system to remain but eliminate all the soot the current system produces and places in the intake system.

I wonder why Cummins never went the way of Caterpillar in that respect  I also wonder why the smaller Cummins engines use a 4th injection event to introduce diesel fuel into the exhaust stream as opposed to using an additional "dosing" injector post turbo... These two things would eliminate a host of problems and would also prevent many knee jerk reactions from owners reading horror stories!! (I'm guilty of this one ;))

I think "clean" exhaust would be much better for the engine to consume rather than the stuff with chunks in it!! :-laf

I'm deleted, so I need not worry about these kind of things :D

One problem with the Cat way is if the tube carrying the exhaust back to the EGR from the DPF cracks the engine is sucking unfiltered air.

A lot of C-15 and C-16 engines got dusted that way.

Mike. :)

Didn't even consider tubing failures being a problem... Hmmm...

It still seems logical for the engine to last longer with fewer problems associated with EGR if it's allowed to breathe cleaner exhaust IMHO.

The company I work for has a variety of newer class 8 trucks and I can see advantages on some that could be a viable option for medium and light duty trucks and others not so much...

I was a big fan of CAT in the distant past, but I see many potential issues with the C-13 ACERT... and I absolutely hate the regen strategy!! Cummins ISX-15 too!!

Owner's manual for both trucks say that the customer will be "unaware" when a regen is taking place... I call BS!!! I can hear a difference in timing and feel it in the peddle position required to move the same load that they always carry!! CAT has an annoying drone that lasts to the point of headaches and Cummins seems to use a HEAVY use of EGR just prior to the "event" that is obvious from the "puffing" sound coming from the air intake and eventually results in a dragging feeling while running between 900-1100rpm and the weird sounds that I can only describe as a "hiccup, cough, burp, fart, and a sneeze" all at the same time!!

Sorry to all for the rant, but I hate seeing small businesses getting eaten alive with the costs associated with running and repairing the emissions strangled junk!!

The sad truth is that all of these engines can be clean and green with a little bit of programming!! Even class 8 trucks that are nearing 20 years old with who know how many 100k miles on the clock never show a puff of smoke!!
