Competition DHRA Division 2 Final Race Cancelled...

Competition Twins Almost Done, Questions

It's getting close to that time again. The 3rd Annual DPM diesel shootout during the Hayes Mopar vs The World event.

If you have never attended, this is a NHRA 1/4 mile track, and you will have the opportunity to race in front of thousands. I will have two diesel classes this year, my plan is for one bracket and one heads up. There is a payout for both classes, and I will elaborate more later on the payouts as I am still getting responses from sponsors.

In 2002, Jet Pilot (Doug Smith) made a 12. 10 sec pass that was quickest of the year for a street diesel, and Clint Cannon showed the world a Duramax could make a quick pass too. In 2003, Dennis Perry made a 11. 56 pass, and a host of other trucks in the 12's. My point, there will be some great heads up racing.

This year I know the Garmon Racing team will be there running low 11's or possibly 10's, the TS Performance team will be here running low 11's or 10's, and maybe a few more surprises.

Hotel information can be found at www.atlantadragway.com and keep checking back as I post more details.

Hope to see you all here...

David next year we gotta talk. Our Div 2 DHRA season ending race (#6) is at Moroso on Sept 11. Sorry I really would like to be there. Anybody coming over to the Div 2 race (#5) in Steele, Alabama at Alabama International Dragstrip on Aug 21? I would be in the 11's but no roll bars.

Bill,

I was just at Steele AL a couple of weeks ago. Small facility, but nice big asphalt pit/parking area. 1/4 mile with what looked to be an ok surface.

And to my amazement, I am free that weekend. ;)

Bill:

I can fix the roll cage thing. Bring yourself on up to McDonough and get it done.

And I understand Joe Webb from SunCoast has put $500 in the pot. How for can it go?

. . Preston. .

UPDATE:

We will have a bracket class open to any who want to bracket race and a Pro Street Shootout.

Bracket Payout:

$500 Winner

$150 Second Place

$50 3rd & 4th

Pro Street Payout: $1500 first place only

Sponsored by:

Sun Coast Transmissions

TS Performance

Garmon's Diesel Performance

Diesel Performance Motorsports will award a $200 bonus to the quickest manual transmission equipped truck.

Rules are really simple.

Bracket: Anyone can bracket race - 20 seconds to 9 seconds. Vehicle must pass current NHRA track rules for times run.

Pro Street - Must be Street Legal, Licensed and insured. All power adders legal. Quickest ET of the night will be awarded the purse. MPH will be used to break a tie. Vehicle must pass current NHRA track rules for times run. Heads-up Eliminations

I hope to see everyone there.

It would be real nice to see you at Steele David. Bring friends. :)

So far I am planning on coming over. Not sure if I will compete, but may. Jeff said he is gonna go and make a few passes in the drag truck. I will see if I can get Darren and Matt there. They are going to Schieds and if they can make it, I'm sure they will. But I will see who I can get to come along. Looking forward to it. It will be the first time this year I will go to a diesel event WITHOUT the dyno. Oo.

Pro Street Racers -

If you are planning on coming, I would like you to send me a e-mail with an announcement sheet for your truck. Should be Owner name, Home town, Truck/Engine, Any sponsors you want recognized, and any other comments/accomplishments you wish to be announced over the PA.

Pro Street will run a Pro Ladder type system. This means you will make qualifying passes and staged based on times. Quickest ET of the round will determine any by-runs.

Pro Street will also go through track tech, then come to where I will be set-up and register for the Pro Street class where I will make sure you are equipped with the basics like loops etc.

I will have the diesel classes staggered so those that want to compete in both classes will have as much cool down time as possible.

Last year there was over 8500 in attendance so this is a good race to get your sponsors in front of the crowd.

Hope to see you there...

are you using the same dhra prostreet rules, or anything goes, just don't want to make the trip if i've got to race against a full tube chassis drag truck, i believe i've got a peice that can (COMPETE)if so and i'll be there

Tim

Tim, I'd welcome another fast truck. I will be checking for things such as drive shaft loops, cages, and such that are NHRA and DHRA rules that I know the track will not know to check. Other than that if it's street legal, it can race. Examples, The Cummins Express truck will qualify for this class because it is street legal, tagged and insured. Jeff Garmon's Drag truck does not qualify because it is not street legal.

You can also enter the bracket class. Anything goes there, but I don't expect too many of the Pro Street trucks to do both, but who knows... it'd be a good payday if you won'em. :D

Cool, I've been wanting to see you run Tim. Let's see; Matt, Darren, George, Derrick and Tim. That sounds like one hell of a race. You all run within . 10's of each other, or will you??? This is going to be awesome! It's worth the 11 hour drive!

Hayes Chrysler is providing 30 FREE dyno runs on Saturday (first come - first served). Mike will be running the dyno while I run around trying to keep the race running along and generally pulling my hair out. I don't know if Mike will do more than 30 or whether the sponsor will be willing to pick up more tab. IF they don't and Mike has time, $65. 00 for 3 runs.

Looking forward to a good weekend.

Update

TS Performance has increased their sponsorship. Total Pro Street payout is now $2000.

Thanks to TS Performance, Sun Coast Transmission and Garmon Diesel Performance for supporting this event.

OK, since this is a big race weekend for the track, where is everybody stayin at? Because you cant have a street class in the south without at least 1 redneck truck.

And it will fit right in. ;)

I know some are camping but to be honest, not many from out of town are really talking about hotels. You may want to find out where Dennis and Sheila and the rest of the TS crew will be staying. There are many hotels right at the track. Check out the track website. www.atlantadragway.com

If you need me to check some out or something, let me know. I'll be glad to do what I can. :)

Looking forward to seeing you.
