First time user so please bear with me. I have a 96 Dodge 2500

4 x 4 with an auto transmission (47re). During a trip to Oregon I had to have the transmission replaced with a factory rebuilt transmission. I have 137 thousand miles so this was not to unexpected.

I also pull a 30 foot trailer. After getting my truck back, I had put about 700 miles on it when I was pulling a hill, I found I had no

4 wheel drive, the transmission felt like it was failing, and the abs lights started to flicker. To top this off I had no brakes in reverse. My

question is this, has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Also could the new transmission fail within 700 miles? Any advice??

Check the wires on top of the trans. If the plug is bad it can short the pcm and couse problems like that. Mine had bare wires at the top of the plug.

Sounds like you lost vacuum. Check all the vacuum lines from the pump back to the transfer case. I bet one is loose.
