serpentine belt life?

How long/mileage can I expect to get ou of the belt? When should I change as preventative maintanence? Thanks, Jim

As long as it shows no visible signs of failing (cracks), they should be good for 100k. I replaced mine at 100k, and it looked fine... I actually kept it for a spare.

I sourced mine from ebay (dealer takeoff) for 1/3 of the cost of new.

Also change mine every 100k. Keep it for the spare if it looks ok and throw away my previous spare (which had been sitting in my toolbox for the last few years since the last time I changed it).

The one on my truck now has almost 200K on it. The one I replaced is in the truck for a spare.

My friend had 278k on his original belt. He was pulling a wedge car hauler with a 95 3500.

Might want to get the Goodyear Gatorback. Does not squak when shutting the Cummins down.
