the antifreeze thread posted below reminded me that the belt might need replacing. Question; Is a NAPA belt the same quality as the Dodge belt? Thanks

I have the dayco on my truck now for close to a month and am pulling it off tonight. That thing has done nothing but chirp since new. The only reason I didn't get the gatorback was the parts store told me it was no longer being sold. I found autozone to have them for $23 so I am installing that one as soon as the truck cools off. See everybody in Terre Haute this weekend that is going. Kevin

Belt quality

I am not so sure the NAPA belt was at fault but here is what I had happen. Hot day 90 degrees. Sitting in traffic but it finally opened up so I went for it on the shift from 3-4(stick) I heard a noise. :--) This was a bit frightening but calmed a bit after I shut off the AC. Got off the road. Popped the hood and the belt had gotten tossed off a few grooves and shedded up against the fan. This was a shock as I havent seen it happen in a long time. Again this could have been my fault, high rpm@3K, locked up fan clutch, high alt load, plus a power shift. In the end it made it home about 30 miles plus I got napa to warrantee the belt, it helps to be friendly.
