I have been having problems with my belt,it seems like the inside edge gets fraid, well I put a new belt on and it did the same thing emeadeatly after startup,I made sure the belt was on there true.

It takes out the first tooth from the backside of the belt towards the engine, all the pullys are tight and spin freely, and input would be appreciated... Thanks in advance... .

Maybe you need to replace your idler pulley. We just replaced the one one my sons 99 when he replaced the belt. He had 80000+ on it. Belt had some cracks in it,pulley looked good. I ordered two Cummins Heavy Duty Idler Pulleys from Practical Solutions Diesel Products so we put one on his. This is there link if I can do it right

I just went through this same exact problem a month ago. The problem is most likely the tensioner is not quite up to "adequate full tension" and needs replacement. I first changed the belt only, problem quickly returned. Next I changed the pulley to the Practical Solutions unit and another new belt. Problem better for 2-days then belt began to fray again. Next changed the tensioner at $160 from Dodge along with new OEM belt. Problem has been fixed for 3-weeks now. By the way, I did move the heavy duty pulley over to the new tensioner as it is a much better pulley than stock.

By the way, MEGARAM had 92,000 miles when the problem started. Good luck!
