Site running on server at new location - bug reports?

Due to continuing performance and support concerns with the current co-location facility that the TDR servers are located at we have decided to move the servers to a new facility. I've flown to Atlanta and met with the new hosting company to check out this facility and it will have no problems fulfulling our needs. You can check out the new facility at http://www.56marietta.com .

I will be flying to Atlanta on February 4th and will be there through February 7th to make the move. You can expect some periods that the site will be unavailable during the move. I will be moving the servers one at a time to keep the down time to a minimum. Thank you for being patient during this transitional time period.

you da man!

Steve- once again, you are going above & beyond the call of duty to make this website better for us TDR members- you ARE da man!:D

Oh, stop it Bill! Thats his job!!!

And besides that, Steve likes it!:p

Sounds like an excuse to get out of deep freeze Michigan to me, I can live with that.

Thanks for the heads up Steve, not that it's exactly tropical in Hotlanta these days. Sounds colder there than here. At least its a dry cold here. hehe

Good move Steve, these guys suck. U of Montana's server also crashed with the 1/25 worm, but was up again within two hours. This site started out working great but has slowed to a creep again.

Good work Steve- It's frustrating I'm sure putting up with the complaints and not getting any service from them.

SURE! now that you've given notice to move the servers, they get their act together and knock the kinks out of it so it runs correctly for a while longer. That new place looks good! I hope the new company is a class act and works as nice as that place looks!

Now your talkin' - I took a look at the web site and it's very impressive. I think you'll be very happy that you moved to a telecom based facility - it gives you so many more options and the ability to easily partner with different carriers. It's obvious when you have a facility that houses telecom folks you are getting serious about doing this thing right. Good Job!

Who are you going with for co-lo and interconnect? And do they have redundant upstream Internet providers and who are those upstream providers? Just curious.

Sounds like you really did your homework! There's a facility like this in almost every major city in the US - they are not well publicized for security reasons. But I've been to the one in Seattle and it was very impressive. Just the fact that they have a meet-me-room tells me a lot about the facility.

Good move Steve, I think you'll be in good hands now.

If you look closely at the valve cover you can see that the 56marietta backup generators are Cummins powered. :D

We're bringing our own. There's approximately a 30 second startup time on the generators so we need a small buffer to get us through that. The routers and such are on a UPS as well.

 Oh..... The sound of lips smacking A$$

!0-4, Steve

I was just wondering, the generators we put in our data center had to synchronize & pick up the load in 10 seconds! Thanks for the info.

Keep up the good work. :)

LOL - hope you have a BIIIIIG 5er!! When it comes to the webmaster stuff the TDR is one of my clients and it all depends on the work that needs to be done how much time I spend each week. The minimum is 4 hours and it goes up from there. I'd say I average about 15 hours a week working on the website, more when major projects are going on like the forum redesign last month and the upcoming facelift for the rest of the site and the server move. I've owned my own consulting business for 9 years now. I'm be on the plane bound for Atlanta in 16 hours - wish me luck :D .
