ULSD and Biodiesel Exposed!

Stanadyne Performance Formula

I recently had the oil changed (1st Oil Change) on my new 2015 RAM 2500 Turbo Diesel 6.7. It took the Dealer Service Department a whole 2 hours to complete the task. I was told by the Service Advisor that the truck had to sit in the air for 15 minutes after the oil plug was removed. Then, once new oil was put in the truck it had to sit another 15 minutes and then the on/off button is activated (Keyless Ignition) and the truck had to sit another 15 minutes. This had to be done at 15 minute intervals until the oil level on the dipstick was reading accurately. Now, I know when changing the fuel filter a similar process is used (Not sure of the specifics off hand but read it in the Owner's Manuel) to prime the fuel filter. Does anyone know if the information regarding changing the engine oil that the Service Manager told me is accurate? I know the fuel pump(s) are electric but isn't the oil pump mechanical? How would activating the Start/Stop Button do anything for the Oil Pump?

Thanks!

To properly drain the oil fully, it has to sit for a minimum of 15 minutes after the filler plug and oil filter has been removed. Longer if the engine is not fully up to temperature.

Better than this, my whole oil change was done in less than 20 min's the first and last time the dealer changed my oil.

As far as the Start/Stop button doing anything I do not know about the fourth gen trucks! I know with my truck which is a 6.7L, I just let the truck sit for 15 to 20 min's after starting the engine one time to insure the filter is full after changing the oil to check my oil level. It will take almost that much time to drain all of the oil back into the pan.

Pull plug and filter, wait 15 minutes ok, install prefilled filter, install plug, fill with oil, start it up, check for leaks, shut it down, wait 5 minutes, check level, top off as needed. done.
