I recently had the oil changed (1st Oil Change) on my new 2015 RAM 2500 Turbo Diesel 6.7. It took the Dealer Service Department a whole 2 hours to complete the task. I was told by the Service Advisor that the truck had to sit in the air for 15 minutes after the oil plug was removed. Then, once new oil was put in the truck it had to sit another 15 minutes and then the on/off button is activated (Keyless Ignition) and the truck had to sit another 15 minutes. This had to be done at 15 minute intervals until the oil level on the dipstick was reading accurately. Now, I know when changing the fuel filter a similar process is used (Not sure of the specifics off hand but read it in the Owner's Manuel) to prime the fuel filter. Does anyone know if the information regarding changing the engine oil that the Service Manager told me is accurate? I know the fuel pump(s) are electric but isn't the oil pump mechanical? How would activating the Start/Stop Button do anything for the Oil Pump?
Thanks!
