It is my understanding that there are several different manuals for these pickups. (chassis, body, drivetrain etc. ) Which one (one's) do most of you have? Where is the best place to get one? I just traded for an 02 4x4 auto.

I bought the Service Manual

For my 99 I just bought the OEM Service Manual which covered most of the DIY stuff that a backyard wrencher would tackle. If you plan on doing more than regualar maintenance/service, you might want to look into the Diagnostic manuals - There are 4 or 5 different ones to pick from.

Have any of you seen the Ford service manual/Body builder books? My Dad has these for his Ford. They are huge and include everything you need to know. The Ford books have way more than DIY stuff. They are, however, around $250.

BV, Are the books from the above site the same? I would hate to spend the money to find out that they are only glorified Haynes manuals.

The price on these is a lot better.

The factory Manuals are really good. My next manual purchase will be from Cummins for the engine. On the Cummins web sight I saw some manuals offered , they were exspensive , but I am sure they will be worth the money-atleast I hope so... ... .

The factory manuals are really worth the 100 bucks they cost.

Heck, if it saves you two hours or lets you do a job that you would have had to pay for.....
