Does anyone know if the message can be reset or turned off? It is the one for the 70 k egr cleaning and ccv filter thing I think.

Thanks

Kent

Turn ignition to on but don't start, then depress gas pedal 3 times in 10 seconds then turn off key. I think that's the sequence.

That's how you reset the fuel service interval (it's in the manual), not sure if it will reset the CCV service.

the manual says how to reset the service required message is on page 124 and on page 124 it says that the procedure for resetting the perform serve indicator is located in the appropriate service information. could not find anything about the appropriate service information

the key on and depress peddel three times is for the change oil indicator.

Just call your dealer service advisor and he'll tell you the correct clear procedure. Thats what I did on the CCV message.

Ok here is the prosedure for ressettng the over head perform service

Turn Key to on but do not start

Press and release the brake twice

press and release gas slowly twice within 10 seconds

Turn key off

When this message pops up, is it safe to drive the truck for an extended period before cleaning the EGR etc?

Richard

Probably should attend to it within 2 weeks minimum, but neither one (CCV or EGR) will damage your engine if not cleaned right away. The CCV will start leaking oil off the top of the engine (mine did) and the EGR will be more sooted up than it already is, you just cant see the soot!

Thanks Ken for your quick reply. I have spoken to an acquaintance who is a mechanic who will do the job for me with my help. It is getting close - about 2,000 miles before the message comes up and by which time I hope to be on the way to AZ and I did not want to stop on the way to get it done.

Thanks again,

Richard

when mine came on i just unplugged the egr so it would not soot up anymore and i got almost 2 mpg better. Then not much longer after that i must have gone over the same rr tracks that some others spoke about and the exhaust system lost a lot of weight. Or if it lost weight because of a diet I wish I knew what diet it was cause it worked and the weight is staying off of it too.
