Set code 0148

What is it?

I was pulling hard and heavy makin' it work. Up hill 40 mph 3200 rpm's. 20,000 lbs in tow. When i got to the top... ... ..... Check engine light was on.

Greg, you didn't by chance get a wimpy Ford or GM sucked up and lodged in yer intake did ya? :p ;) :D

When ya get all that Cummins power working for you, you hafta be mindful of the slower stuff on the road...

Looks like that code has to do with the O2 sensor - probably from the heat of the exhaust on your banzai run...

According to the powertrain diagnostics manual,

P0148 = High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR) Checksum

This is set for:

"A deviation between the fuel pressure set point and the actual fuel pressure".

Possible causes:

Fuel Leaks

Fuel Control Actuator

Fuel Pressure Sensor

Cascade Overflow Valve

Check Valve Damaged or Blocked

Fuel Return Lines obstruction, damage, or debris

Lift Pump Flow

Air in Fuel System

Leaking Fuel Injectors or High Pressure Connectors

Pressure Limiting Valve

High Pressure Fuel Pump

Intermittent Condition

Greg, how did you know you got the code? Did the MIL light come on?

BOY, I'm gonna hafta get my P-codes updated! :(

My list doesn't show that number, but the ones on either side of that number all relate to O2 sensor problems...

Looks like it is time for a pusher pump. Stock lift pump is a little weak. I will have a guage on it in a couple days.

Greg,

Steve,

Thats the code I was trying to figure out at the dyno run. I threw that one going up a grade at a 100.

I just got off the phone with Fred. He told me you set the same code. Did the idiot light go out on its own?

"What 02 sensor , do not see one on my truck??"

Ignore my statement about the O2 sensor - I made an ASSumption bassed upon the fact that all the numbers adjacent to the PO148 were O2 related - and my list doesn't HAVE that number - it skips over it - in the past, similar situations HAVE been related, this one apparently is not, and I was wrong...

The new trucks probably don't have an O2 sensor...
