Hi everyone

On my '07 2500, the navigation DVD finally stopped working altogether. I was able to make it work for the last 3 years or so by blowing it out with compressed air, but that no longer works. Then I tried the BWBK (baby wipe, butter knife) method of cleaning it out with some rubbing alcohol, and that didn't work either.

There's a thread here on how to remove the unit and clean the laser, but it seems like a little bit of a PITA when all I wanted to to was to change the clock for DST.
So I found out that you can set the clock even with DVD read errors - you just have to be quick. You have to do the whole time setting process before the DVD player comes up with the error.

  1. Turn on the ignition with the DVD installed so the unit will start trying to read the DVD.
  2. *Before it gets a read error* - you have to
    1. Hold down the Time button for a couple seconds
    2. Turn the knob to select DST setting on the menu
    3. Hit enter
    4. Turn the knob to select either DST on or off
    5. Hit enter again
    6. Turn the knob to the bottom DONE bar
    7. Hit enter again

It usually took about 8-10 second for the dumbass DVD reader to fail, so I was able to do it after about 3-4 tries. Good luck!
