Driving home today, the truck started running very rough, rattling like a 12V, and I had no power (like a 12V :)). CE light came on. I immediately dialed the TST back to stock, no change. I got to an exit ramp, temporarily shut down, and re-started (ECM reboot)... no good. I limped to the shoulder, and the engine died. I pulled the following codes:

P0606 - ECM communication error

P0193 - Fuel rail pressure sensor circuit high input

P0236 - Turbocharger boost sensor circuit range/performance

I cleared the codes, checked over all the connections, and fired back up (truck had been off for about 3 minutes at this point). It fired right off, and ran fine. I left the TST on stock, but from the codes, this looks more like an EZ issue. I run my EZ on level 4.

Anyone else ever have this happen?

how did you reset your codes??
I'd like to know that too. Also, how did you read them in 3 minutes?

I carry a hand-held OBD-II reader with me. It only takes a few seconds to read the codes... same to clear them. The rest of the downtime was just me checking the various TST and EZ connections.

The last two sound EZ related but it does not interface with the ECM so that one makes me wonder, unless the other two caused it?? I never had my EZ throw a code but that doesn't mean it couldn't.

Anyone can read the codes by cycling the key three times and leaving it in the run position. The codes come up in the odometer. Clearing them requires something to interface with the computer. I usually carry my laptop so I use it and OBDII software to clear the codes.

Well, it happened again this morning - just as I pulled into my office (approximately the same run-time as yesterday when the problem occurred). This time, I pulled over, dropped the transmission into neutral, the engine missed once or twice, then settled down at 750RPM, and ran smooth again. I drove it through the parking lot, and all was normal again.

This time, the only code set was P0193 - fuel-pressure. I've disconnected the EZ, and will see what happens on the commute home.

The ability to read the fuel pressure in the rail would really be helpful here... does the Bullydog Outlook monitor display fuel rail pressure?
