It finally happened. The pillar of the left coast, San Francisco, is scheduled to vote in November 2005 on outlawing private ownership of hand guns. Citizens who have sense enough to own one there, will have 90 days to turn them in. I guess the results of the same law in England did not deter the city management from trying the same thing. WOW! Then again, it might be as unsuccessful as the ban in Canada, where folks are mostly ignoring the gun laws there.

Great  let the moronathon begin! Suuure let's dissarm the innocent public so those BAD guys might turn theirs in too so the world will be safey safe and smell like lollypops and puppys #ad

Just a few quotes that convey my thoughts on this much more eloquently than I can write.

Gun Control -- an effort to pass laws to restrain people who obey laws

with the promise that the right combination of such laws will

eventually deter criminals even in the absence of enforcement.

‘‘Laws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are

neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make

things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they

serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed

man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. ’’

— Jefferson's "Commonplace Book," 1774-1776, quoting from On Crimes

and Punishment, by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764

"Good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly,

while bad people will find a way around the laws. "

- Plato (427-347 B. C. )

No wonder........

So many of them are leaving the "Promised Land. " I suppose a concealed carry law is out of the question there? DK.

Do you have a link to this. I live in CA but not in SF. I would like to learn a little more about this.

WHAT IS OUR COUNTRY COMMING TO?????????

Sfo

Gfritsch, I got this off the outdoors ISP, which is usually Fox network sourced.

Dial up outdoors .com. It's the lead item.

This country is going to go through a lot more of this kind of thing, and lots more other insults and threats to our culture, until we stop electing people with radical beliefs. My God, the latest crime stats sure don't cry for a law which is un-constitutional ! It could be that the city fathers there are looking for a way to keep the gays that the mayor married from killing each other. :)>) :-laf

You know what they say: Once it is law in Ca. only a matter of time till the rest of country catches on!What do you want out of a bunch of butt dart playin gay marrage lovin fruits!#@$%! Can't get out of this state fast enough!

I'm afraid that if our Founding Fathers came back they would turn in disgrace for what we have done to our country.

But if they outlaw my guns, well I'm going to be an outlaw then.

We have a nuclear weapons ban here in Iowa City

Sort of poor man's version of Star Wars, works well, the feds stop on I80 and detour around to avoid getting a ticket :-laf

All these bans will work as well as prohibition did :p or maybe even as well as the immigration laws do

I was going too offer to put you up here for awhile at my place, but I think all of your kalifornia neighbors have beat you here. :( :{

I can't wait till the out'a towners have us to vote on that! Just like Wally world and the casino, NOT IN OUR TOWN!!! You're town?? Where were you before our town became THE in thing?

We used to be a forest/ farming community before the god forsaken wind surfing/bike riding/nut eating/anti wally world/vegetarian/anti casino/anti anything but what "I" want type of person moved here. :(

"You have to keep guns away from kids," said Alioto-Pier, the mother of young children. "We're not taking away people's constitutional rights. This is about ensuring the safety of people who live here. "

Some people are just to ignorant for their own good. These people are traitors!

I agree wholeheartedly. Hopefully enough people there can be convinced to shoot down the ban, but I'm guessing it won't happen. I happen to like my guns, and I don't believe I could give them up, because if we start giving in that much, where does it end? Someday they'll ban pointed sticks and rocks.

Someone needs to write up a bill that bans automobiles in the city of San Francisco, because they are responsible for more deaths than firearms are, and see how the public really feels about that, just to help put it in perspective.

Can someone tell me when we went from a country of "we" to the country of "I"!It"s just plain BS when someone does not like something and decides that it is their "right "to force everybody else to follow there beliefs, thoughts and ideas. I must have been working my but off that day to support my family and missed it!Sure wished i could sit around all day and whine about all the things that I don't like and make it all change for me, while i get paid by the government to do nothing!Man gotta take a pill feel the bp goin up!No work=no pay enough of the multi generation leaches! How come in this state when you are walking down the street and say HI to someone they think you are up to something!Enough rambling for now.

It's the same thing with the Pledge of Allegiance, Christmas, the Ten Commandments and whatever other "offensive" cause the left wants to outlaw. I'm sick of it. We have become a nation where the minority rules. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Now The Declaration Of Independance is offensive! Kids don't have Christmas break anymore, now it's "Winter Break". There are no more Christmas Sales, now they're "Holiday Sales". Companies tell their employees to say "Happy Holidays" because "Merry Christmas" may offend someone and cause a lawsuit! Boys can't play cops and robbers anymore, because toy guns are EVIL. How pathetic the lives of those who cause such a stink about these issues must be!

What do WE do now? We must stop this non-sense somehow.
