Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Shaking Boost Guage? Should I bee looking for a probelm?

I just installed a 60 psi Ultra Light boost guage and it starts shaking over 35 psi. I've searched on here and some say it may be the guage or a leak? My old 35 psi guage was rock solid.



So, is it the new guage? I have BD boots on the truck and I don't hear any changes in sound. Is it just the waste gate starting to open? I can hold a steady 35 to maybe 38 psi if I back off and roll in smoothly. At WOT it shakes from what I think is 38 to 42 psi.



Should I be concerned?

My Autometer Cobalt boost guage started doing the same thing. I was worried about it, thought my turbo was going out or something, but it was running fine. The guage jiggles a little when going over bumps at higher boosts, so I think it's just the guage. Been doing it for about 30K miles, so I'm guessing it's not the turbo, or the turbos are alot tougher than we give them credit.



Like yours, the guage holds steadier when I roll into it smoothly and don't go to WOT. WOT will put it over 40 psi

There was a thread long ago that mentioned how 'surface' head cracks between the valves could cause fluctuating boost readings, especially at higher boost. It was 6-8 years ago, and may have been one of Hammer's posts.

Well I hope its not anything of great concern, I know the guage's hose is good. Maybe I should just keep things under 35 psi where the boost needle ain't shaking...
