Competition tips on mounting catch cans

We had a little fun with these on another site, please feel free to add some.

Knowing full well that the midwest has an advantage at the pulling track from exprience, we were asked to share some info.

Go ahead and print these off, and keep them in your truck at all times.

1. Always leave the line wide open.

1a. If your clutch can't handle that, let off a hair and wait for it to catch up.

2. Drive straight.

3. If it bounces, let off.

4. Obey the flagger, they carry a gun.

5. Never protest the results, if you are sure the dude was cheating, flatten his tires.

6. Always try to sneak into the gasser class, and blow their doors off, then give them back their trophy/money out of spite at the end.

7. Don't pull with your e-brake on, (Ford Guy, Jesup GA)

8. Always use four wheel drive. (Dodge Guy, Jesup Ga)

9. I f Sled Puller is there, let him win, becuase the whining will be worse than the gloating.

10. Be sure to video tape all your pulls and those of the competition, and the not so competition, so you can get a fix in the winter months, watch and learn, and if somebody is getting close to you, quietly suggest misinformation.

Gene,

What does #5 mean? What does flattening a tire prove? Do sled puller put water in the tires? I know some of the 4x4 guys in competition put water in the front tire do if put more weight when climbing very steep obstacles.

Charles

It means, don't get mad, get even.

Most techs are onto the guys with concrete and lead powder in their tires. :D

Thats because Gene doesn't have any traction bars, he must depend on those billboard size stickers plastered all over his truck, for traction. :p

*sigh*, I said it before, and I'll say it agian, it wasn't JUST a ford, it was Franks ford!! Also it was my first legit pull, getting used to the clutch, nerves, sraced to death of overpowering the track LOL, bla, bla. All I can say say is, I can't wait to out pull you, just once, you thought you were bad after Muncie? LMAO. :D

Later, Rob

BTW, how much farther than I did you pull on saturday, with your decaled, twin powered, Detroit locked, mega HP, trailered truck? :p :p

Ya Franks truck, the very one that I beat my first trip out this spring with new everything!! Same one that Brandon beat!!!

I was only a little bit in front of you, but that is at the BIG END of the track!!!

And I didn't even have those fancy traction bars!!!

Blame it on Mickey and his three brothers!!!

No breakage in Georgia, but the front U -- joint came off in pieces, and my hitch has a bend or two in it.

All in all, a pretty good year, considering we doubled the horsepower, doubled the clutch, doubled the turbos, and Doubled the size of tire.

Only came home on a trailer 6 times, and 3 times it was not needed, but taken as a precaution

I think that sums it up!! I won Muncie and drove - almost 8 hours one way. Every truck in the top 10was trailered, except for Bill and Jim.

I'm getting tired of changing tires.

:D :D

From about May on, you can pull at least 2 nights a week in a 5 hour radious around here.

The antique tractors pull more than that, those guys pull all weekend, several times a day, but it is like watching parking meters expire.

California is full of farmers, can't believe they don't have more pulls.
