I just stumbled across this site, it is not the Ford-Diesel but rather a newsgroup type of thing, wow there are a lot of unhappy Ford owners.

I particularly liked the guy who said that diesels require more maintenance than a gas engine. His example of that extra maintenance was that he had changed his fuel filter at 50,000 miles.
I would hate to see what maintenance he doesn't do to a gas engine.
I won't buy a used Pstroke. I won't buy a new one either.

The only advice I could offer to all those powerjoke owners is the same advice my Dad used to give me when I was young and did something stupid. He would always say, "Let that be a lesson to you".

Tim,

You would be surprised as to what these folks actually see as “more maintenance”. In many of these cases, “more maintenance” actually means, “different” or “unknown”. They are use to, or know how to maintain a gas engine (and that’s questionable), but the different animal (diesel) is a different technology which they are not use to, so that translates into “more maintenance”. Perhaps its because they need to educate themselves, and that requires them to put forth effort to learn what has to be done, hence, requiring “more maintenance” on their brain to know what has to be done.

I by no means are implying that I know what I’m doing, I am a beginner myself, but I am willing to put effort into educating myself via this board, or my own research to learn. I have owned my diesel for about 6 months now, and believe my Dodge to be one of the easiest systems to maintain that I have ever owned. My wife’s gasser, as well as my passed trucks, were in no way more forgiving, or easier to maintain, than my Dodge diesel. #ad

Did you guys see the explanation for the guy's water separator bowl heater problem... "conductive dirt. " That sounds like the same dealer that told one of the Dodge guys here that the reason his truck pulled to the right was because the exhaust pipe pointed in that direction and pushed the rear around #ad
