I posted last week with a question about 'lot's of smoke'. It took 2x :{ (first time I used the original key which was too tight and rolled out and the pump went to 30-degrees? off on the timing) and alot of patience from Scott but finally have the truck running great with the 'Greenleaf' VE pump. Still tweaking the smoke control becuase it puts out a small black cloud when I put my foot into it. Now onto the latest crises :confused: which is the heater core which went out last night when I roded it around the block. The truck just flies! Oo. Thanks Scott you're the master. Bob

Bob, glad to hear you got it figured out. You sure like riding around the block :-laf . For low end smoke I'd bring the starwheel all the way up. That is where mine is, well almost, and it will still roll the smoke. Next time I get around to it I'm gonna bring it up some more.

Heater core: not a very tough job, just gotta remove a few things in the way of the heater box. Get a heater core from Napa, they are top quality, bigger than stock and heat good. Did mine in my 89.
 
lot's of smoke! NOT!!!

Started pulling screws on the heater cowling and according to manual I'll need to disconnect A/C :{ ??? WOW! I might pass on that for now and get to it before winter. It's California for heaven's sake Oo. . Thanks Bob
 
:-laf , I was wondering if you had A/C. I did mine last month and 'YES', the A/C must be evaced because of the condenser core being in the same assy unit as the heater core. Take your time to find and remove all the hidden screws and a dash cross member. It'll take a good 4 hours if all goes right. Which never seems to happen to me.
 
Vhaines a "Greenleaf" pump is a injection pump that has bin modified by TDR member Greenleaf. As far as getting one drop Greenleaf a PM and talk to him.
