Well i don't really know what is going on now but i think i have it narrowed down... i'd like to see what ya'll think! Here is the problem. Starting at approximately 25 mpg I will start getting a low vibration/noise that sounds like something rubbing and this noise seems to peak and be the loudest and is almost a full vibration at around 45 mph but is sitll VERY prestent at 85 mph. However there is no vibration if you turn the wheel to the right and it gets much worse if you turn it to the left. Also if you steop on the brake while it is doin its thing it will reduce dramatically but doesnt go away completely. I had the tires balanced and rotated and it is still doing it. I went through my brakes and everything is fine there. My thought is it has to be the front wheel bearings. I poulled them apart tonight and the right one was leaking oil/grease while the left was not. They both were tight when i lifted the truck up and wiggled the tires, and they both seem to be rolling fine when i turn them with my hands. I took them in to the parts store in town and they said that i couldn't just replace the bearings i had to buy the whole assembly for like 230 bucks whihc at this point i don't want to do because i am not even sure if that is what is wrong! There are little snap rings on the back of the assemplies which to me implies that the bearings ought to be able to be pressed out and new ones pressed in.

I have searched all over the forum and all over the net and havent really been able to find any relavent info except that these are "non serviceable items".

Any input at all would be great.

Thanks

It still could be something in the back of the truck.

Put the truck on a good solid surface. Put the back up on jackstands and run the truck up to 50 or so and see if the vibration is there - if not, it has to do with the front end!

Since you said you rotated tires, did the vibration change? If not, probably not tires.

From what you are describing, yes, it could be bearings, but what about ball joints, shocks, tie rod ends, etc - check all those out too. Don't forget to check the front end bushings!

Let us know!

mine done the same thing it was a wheel bearing. Have a tire shop put tires on a wheel spinner. The one we used you just jacked up the front of the truck and this thing spins the wheel (one at a time) if the bearings are bad it will wobble. Got my bearings at a jeep dealer they told me 230 each, I told them that the dodge dealer in town could get them for 180 but thanks for there time and they said we can sell them for 160 talk about mark-up. just bs them a little.

Now I am really confused! I put the right wheel all back together the other night and hopped in to run to town and noticed the trusck wasnt making the vibration/hum when i turned to the left, as before. However now it was doing it when i turned to the right!!! It never made a noise when you turned to the right before. Also I came to find out that when i applied the brake it made the noise worse and before when i applied the brakes it would reduce the noise! So anyone got any ideas? There isn't ANYTHING i can think of that i coujld have put in backwards or even screwed up enough to completely reverse the symptoms.

Thanks
