Hello everyone!My automatic shifter is not matching up to the gear on my dash. Any solutions to fix it?

I have to finesse mine to be in the correct gear as the previous owner removed the dash to replace the heater core. I need to place in neutral at times to get it to start.

I followed my wife she was driving the 01 on the highway. Wondering why she was not doing the speed limit. Got her to pull over and figured it out. She had it in 2nd but looked like drive. She had it floored running against the governor.
