Ok, the truck is a 99 QC auto. Put the noise filter in it a few months ago and it took care of that problem. I took it for a test drive today to see what it is doing. It seems that there are times when it takes a long time to shift. You can run it right up to 3300 rpm and it won't shift. Then all of a sudden it is fine?? This is at starting out speeds. I believe it did a major downshift while at highway speed as well. I can't confirm that one though. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Thomas

He bought it with 133,000. Everything should be stock. There was a tag of some type on the transmission that gave a Jan 04 date which leaves me to believe it was rebuilt then. But, then I don't know.

Bad News

Heres the bad news bloomy. That transmission is SHOT! That exact thing happened to my truck where you can run it to redline and it wont shift. The pump in the transmission is going and when it does you had better be close to home because you have about two miles before it will hemmorage onto the pavement. Noone could tell me why my transmission did that untill the transmission puked onto the ground. My guess you've got less than a month before it dies. So start looking for a transmission shop now! Thats my . 02 from experience not guessing.

Well, he certainly isn't going to want to hear that, especially since he just bought it last fall. Thanks for the info.

Thats what I was going to say it sounds like the line pressure is to low. That either means a pump going or everything else is wore out.

Talked to Bill @ DTT and since the transmission is stock he was leaning more towards the electronics like the Governor Solenoid and Pressure Transducer. Had to replace those on the 01 in my signature. Need to check some things. Any other suggestions are welcome. I never dealt with any of the local transmission shops. Did I ever say that I don't like auto's!!

yeh thats what my local mechanic was leaning towards too until it puked on the ground. I also bought mine last fall but with 136k on her I had a good idea I would be doing it soon. But after my local transmission shop screwed me 3 times and never rebuilt the transmission correctly the $2200. 00 I spent on the rebuild was returned by my bank for them doing the job wronge. It still drives ok for the time being but I'm having it rebuilt before winter by one of our members who runs a transmission shop in my town. Boy I wish I knew that first!

Took it to an Aamco transmission shop since they were the only ones that would look at it that day. They also were going to scan it for free. Scan everything and determined that it was a speed sensor. Thirty some dollar part and a little bit of labor and it is running real nice again. Will see if it lasts or if there are more problems thanks for the info. Just wanted to update this.
