Shifting Problems or Exhaust Brake

Been doing for years. Over the road drivers have been doing it for years. Those that flip it on and off when the think they need it, instead of using it when ever the truck is in motion, are the ones who will get in trouble.

Just got a recall on my truck called the dealer. They said a relay is causing fires and do not leave the truck in the shop, put it outside. They now know about what they call random downshifting. They have no idea why it is doing it. They haven't had one in their possession when it happens. It has blown up some engines and some trans. They said Dodge will buy it if it blows. He knows of 3 in our area that have been bought back. So for me this will happen on the other end of the country.

My truck has 18k on it. The first time it did it was around 7500 miles last summer.

I have not, but I have not been working much so have not been in as many dealers lately to see what's going on.

This is so aggravating because I got so complacent with my 15 it just never needed anything. For 7 years I stopped paying any attention to what is going on with the trucks. A hot shot I know down south bought 2 new trucks on my recommendation a couple years ago when they had that injection problem I didn't know about, he is still mad at me.

Though I would add a bit of humor to this more than sad post. 6.7 and aisins blowing up everywhere very depressing for sure and sure I believe everything I hear.

Man....I tried to watch that video a few months ago, I couldn't get through it, 20 minutes to get to the point and too much 'talking with the hands' in front of the camera.

Does anybody actually know this guy . The truck he’s showing us looks brand new with 100 k . What does he do with theses trucks really that they get so many miles on them. Could this be make believe .And his hands look like a button pushers never seen any work. I’m calling foul . Drive on

Well, all I could see was the truck idled for 1830 hours out of 3701 hours, or 49.44%. Drive was 1871 hours, or 50.55%, averaging 58.21 MPH with the 108910 miles on the truck.
I sure did not notice any of the purported issues he discussed. Maybe a "water in fuel" light which was quickly passed off as needing a new sensor.
Sure wish there were documents like oil analysis, work orders with the dealer's findings, code readings, fuel quality, maintenance records, etc. to support the claims presented. Nothing he stated was apparent to me in the video, and all the while he seemed surprised that none of his claims were showing up, yet he continued filming non-supported verbalizations. I couldn't readily find any of his previous videos of the catastrophic failures. In other words, I did not spend a lot of time searching and searching. The older I get the more valuable time becomes on the greased time slope.
If the noises portrayed in the video indicate some "serious or major" issues I will have to re-direct the pent-up CP4 panic (maniacal laughter) and take my 2020 Laramie in as it sure sounds like mine on cold mornings the past couple years. All the time I thought it was being caused by my knees knocking until the CP4 issue was taken care of (not! I got in and enjoyed every minute, before and after the "fix").
