I recently had my flywheel resurfaced, and it looks like it needs a shim now, as every gear is just a bear to shift out of (I recently swapped my gear oil with some Redline MTL, so it's good). I literally have to shut the engine down to get her in reverse.
The Dodge house wants $738 for a new flywheel (of course
), and I feel my existing flywheel still has another 50K left on it, so I've been trying to find a shim to install. I'm not having any luck so far. I even looked locally for an aftermarket flywhee, and no one seems to sell them either.
Anyone got a line on a shim for a NV4500?
As a pathetic attempt at a *quick fix* till the shim arrives, I tried to put a shim between the hydraulic slave cylinder arm and the throw-out bearing lever, to no avail. Why did this fail? Is there a stop in the bellhousing that will only allow the throw-out bearing to depress so far, making a shim or new flywheel the only fix for this problem?
Thanks for any help...
