Grand Cherokee Pricing

Alaska

I need to ship two 500lb crates from NC to MA, they are 60" X 36" X 36" I checked FedEx and UPS and they are very expensive, any ideas of a shipper that could do this for a reasonable price? Both ends are bussiness' with loading docks and fork trucks.

Most shippers, if you have never shipped with them before, put you in the most expensive classification rate.

If you are planning on doing consistent shipping and want to get better pricing, talk to the shippers and tell them how much you are planning to ship with them.

They typically sharpen their pencils and pricing if they know you won't be a one time thing.

I have alot of items shipped from North Carolina but I use specialty carriers due to the fragile nature of my business. (IE:Furniture) Alot of my shippers only ship furniture.

Try ABF freight. You may get a better quote from them.

I have also used Caldwell trucking and Old Dominion freight line.

I used Old Dominion (ODFL) a few years ago to ship a diesel engine from Ct to La. They were the cheapest at the time.

I didn't think they would even handle parcels of that weight, go with a freight company that handles larger items. I think most of the time for a business discount you have to ship some quantities, to get a better rate take it to the closest distribution hub. If they can save coming out to your place it will be chaeper.
