Who has information on the shock tower recall? The Crysler recall states to look for a crack on the tower bracket, if there is not one, then just keep driving. The fix appears to be a weld bracket that they install. Where is the crack occurring, and why would they not replace the bracket(3 bolts, 3 minutes)? 94' 2500 4x4, 5 speed.

Bert,

You should go in and see if your vehicle is included in the recall. If the shock tower is NOT cracked a reinforcement is welded on. If it IS cracked then the shock tower is replaced and then the reinforcement is welded on. About three hours if no cracks and about eight if there are cracks. That is, IF they have a certified welder on their crew. If not then they have to contract the job out, which may take longer. If your rig is included there is no charge since it's a safety recall. It might get exciting one of these days if you don't get it done.

It's the spring tower ,not the shock tower. I had mine done. No cracks so they welded on this overlap piece which has a broader base of contact with the frame. It looks more like the later models.
