Shocks

Need opions on the best shocks for the front. I am going to run air bags on the back. Does anyone have any input?

Simon, i would recommend the rancho 9000. i just put on a set of four and really like them. i also have the "Air Lift" bags which are great for towing. i got the shocks from ntb (cash & carry) @ 75each.

I have Rancho RS9000s all the around. Even w/ airbags, you need 'em in the rear too. I pulled my 5th wheel last week and forgat to change setting on my rear shocks from 1 to 5. Rearend was bouncing all over. Took me several miles to figure it out.

Guaranteed, you need the good shocks in the rear.

As for the other brands mentioned in this thread, how long do they last? No disrespect intended; I just don't recall ever seeing anyone post mileage experience with any other brands... .

I put a set of KYB monotube shocks on my '98 at around 15K miles; 75K miles later, they've loosened up just enough to be slightly annoying, so I'm replacing them.

This makes three vehicles I've gotten 75K miles or so on KYB monotube shocks: '84 200SX, 87 Formula 350, and now the Ram 2500.

Now, mind you, this applies only to the GasAdjust model. I've never used the high-performance model, nor their adjustable model, so I can't speak on their longevity. But I might guess that they'll last as long if they are the monotube design.

If you don't require high performance or adjustability, go for the regular brand. You might never install another set of shocks.

After having Rancho 9000's on for 23k I think they are trashed. Most of my driving is on Chicago's poor streets. I am either going
Bilsten or as Fest3er suggested KYB.
Now who knows of cheap prices for either???

Monroe owns Rancho shocks. It is just another division.

Bilsteins will outlast all of them. Its #BE52249, and #BE52250. Autozone has them for $50 per shock.

I got about 80K out of RS9000 and two of the are leaking. They have a lifetime warrenty and I sent the front two in.

Bad roads and -30 degrees hard on anything!

Will see!

If they will warrenty them, I like how they perform and will keep using them.
