Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) shoehorn and 8.3 where a 5.9 was?

If I were going to spend the time I'd spend the money to and do it with an ISL. 8. 8 liter, common rail, VGT, and most importantly..... a REAL ENGINE BRAKE!!!!! That would be :cool:

I can tell you all one thing after watching the Sheid truck pull the sled at Palmdale a couple of weeks ago you do not need any more than a built 5. 9--they kicked the crap out of a 1 ton with a DT 466 in it and probably are making as much horsepower as a M-11 or ISM
 
i was at hddr too! but just think what you would have if u did everything that is done to the schied truck to and mid engine 8. 3 or 8. 8 common rail!!!

this is getting way off the subject! mokerz look what you started! i want to see it done and i'll help you out, but i hope you arent doing this to your daily driver... i know Stackz would really be mean with an 8. 3. run that by batz
 
problem with the 8. 3 and sledpulling would be the lack of rpm you would be able to get out of that engine. They are really bad for dropping valves too. The dt466 is a better engine to go with in my opinion. You just need 14 more inches of room i think. 8. 3's are too big and massive, both wideth and length.
 
well I know an 8. 3 will fit under the hood in "stackz" (93 3500 4x4 ext cab long bed) However I was figuring on a "FEW" modifications to fit it in a 97' I just wondered if anyone ever tried it. I have an 8. 3 available to me its in a combine right now, however, that may change soon. Thanks for the info and the comments, what a riot. gotta love the samari too! :-laf
 
although an 8. 8 with a real jake... or c brake in this case would be freakin rediculous! I want one! :-laf and if we are going mount the engine midway, might as well get an n14 with a 10spd lol! Bet that would pull! Seriously though, I am going to look into the 8. 3, I need something to do to keep me out of trouble! ;)
