So there was a big run on the blue shop towels because you can use them for home made masks, like the normal blue "shop towels" at home depot or Lowes, or any auto.parts.

Needed some for the shop at my business, so off to McMaster.

I found some blue ones.. said was 475 towels, but the note was interesting said washable 5 times.

Figured pull the trigger, was a little more then I wanted to spend by McMaster is never a price savings but if they have it you get it. Shipping is also cheap.

What an amazing towel these are too me.

They are really tough, dont rip easy, they should hold up for.general purpose.

I opted for the $30 dispenser.

Well McMaster is tops and never any junk coming from them. I went there (will call) once. I wanted a tour so bad. The racks go all the way up to the roof!

Their original place was in Dayton, NJ off Ridge Rd years ago, tiny place did Will Call often.

Then they moved off 195 to that really awesome building next to the old Mercedes Benz place, I think that closed.

They have a really neat system, there was an old timer who ran Will Call at both places, hope he is retired by now, was a good person to.deal with.

Have not been there in a few too many years, a worker lived near by would just send him to do out Will Calls.

But yeah we do alot with McMaster.

I’ve been to both places, Tim. I thought they were still next to exit 7.
I buy all my specialty hardware and machine tools there.

My bad MB closed their headquarters in Bergen county in 2015 to 2018, it was in Montvale, their warehouse is still in Robinsville,,,,,,, Vale / Ville. They moved down to Atlanta.

McMaster moved from Dayton around 2004, they were off Exit 8A, they are off Exit 7 East on 195 from TPK.

The old place was alot different for sure they have really made that place nice.

Blue shop towels are the preferred material for making home made mask according to an article I read. They did say that it is washable!!!

I read 3 times for the normal stuff.

Oh we already tried to make home made masks with this stuff to see how it works.

These are 5 times washable, and I can truly think maybe more, we tried to fold it in half and use paint head socks, 1, it looks ridiculous, 2 the double blue of this stuff was too restrictive.

So I cut the top part off the head sock and folded it under and used cotton tape with 1 layer, it was a little loose.

But with some fine tuning the blue stuff we got is pretty cool.

I wound up ordering some KN95 that's the new Chinese masks they used in China to replace the N95 shortages they had. FDA just cleared those, we picked up 100 for now, they are super pricey should be like 0.95 each, paid $4.05 each, complete scam but I have 18 field techs and that's not a lot of masks each. They can try to use them sparingly and I'm only listing them for "face covering" since I cant get them properly fitted as per guidelines.
KN95 were released for healthcare last friday.

Also just read this,

I had a typo I fixed. Yes washable! And it has the most desirable amount of filtering vs paper towels(not enough), vacuum bags(no much) and cotton cloth(not enough).

Different. snipped from my article, I think it was a Seattle times article a week ago or so:

"
Nonwoven fabrics are made of individual fibers or filaments that are bound together mechanically, thermally or chemically. They are not knit or woven together, like most cotton.

Not all nonwoven fabrics are ideal for masks. Wet wipes are too porous, Tsai said. Vacuum bags are not breathable.

Tsai recommended using car shop towels as mask material. The towels, available in rolls and often blue, would do a better job of filtering droplets than cloth, he said. The material is strong and can be washed with soap and water and reused, he added."

Mandatory with fines now in Riverside, CA to wear some sort of face covering.

I will look like this today at Costco, RiteAid and the Bank. I will have a paper towel inside mask for proper filtration.

Paper towels are not a very good filter. No shop towels in the 5th wheel? You had them in your shop up North, or were those mine I brought along? I think I left a partial roll with you.

Got a small serger sewing machine today and tried it out, I have never sewn before, was pretty easy. Might give a go at making some masks the hard part is you can not get the elastic or material to make ties, so need to figure that part out.

The Shop Towels made a nice rubber glove bag. This took a few minutes to make.

My wife does not sew and wants no part of this. But when in Rome.....

Of course her only comment was just needs a zipper, I'm like yeah did not get to that page in the book yet.

Tiny little thing.

Surgeon General said when talking about home made masks said to place paper towel behind mask over nose and mouth. I did do today and it worked well behind my motorcycle face sock. I used Bounty folded, the good stuff.

I think you would have had to be watching FOX to see the interview.
