I decided to see if I could find a deal on an '04 tempting enough to get me to trade. I spent several hours on the (pathetic) Dodge website checking dealer inventories within a several state region. Found a dealer in NM that had pretty much what I was looking for, so I sent them a request for pricing. The MSRP sticker price from the dealer's website is $36,370. Following is their reply and my response:

Dear Ken,

Great news! The 2004 Dodge Ram 3500, Stock Number #48182, that you are intrested in is still available at this time. The list price of 2004 Dodge Ram 3500 is $38,265. 00, the internet price is $36,370. 00. Your price with all rebates included is $33,870. 00, plus tax, title, and license fees. Please note that Chrysler rebates are subject to change. If there are any other questions that we can answer for you at this time please feel free to call us at our direct line ... You will need to see one of us in order to receive the special internet pricing. Again, thank you for choosing

***** Dodge, The Land of Great Deals.

My Response:

Thank you for the quote. The truck I am interested in has an MSRP of $36,370 (not $38,265. 00) before rebates according to the window sticker from your website. After the $2500 rebate, the price would be $33,870.

I am looking to purchase a truck at or below invoice less rebates. I estimate that the invoice on this truck is about $32,128, bringing the invoice-rebate price to $29,628. If you feel that you can sell the truck for this amount, we can talk.

I have not heard back from them; I must be one of their worse nightmares, ... an informed consumer.

Good Man Klenger. Don't let them get to ya. I've been playing the same games and finally found a decent dealer in Johnson Auto Plaza in Brighton, Colo. Unfortunately the 03 they had left has the dreaded vibration and the 04's don't have a good enough rebate for me yet. You might check their site. If you find something, ask for Kathy or Linda in the fleet dept. Good Luck

I might have a truck you are looking for. The truck is a 2003 white 3500 drw manual trans. It is my wifes and we are selling it for $10,000 dollars less than I paid. Out the door it was $42k.

I had a very good buying experience with Doug Norsten at Desert Dodge in Las Vegas. They normally have a good inventory of CTDs.

My price seems right, I just picked up a new 04 that msrp"ed out at $38,455 for $29,872 from Southtown Dodge in St. Louis. If you"re close give Mike Font a call at 314 487 1010 ext. 223 or e-mail -- email address removed --. Did me right.

I checked Christopher Dodge inventory from the Dodge website per your previous reccomendation on another thread. I didn't see anything that I was looking for, but I might stop in there next week when we are in Denver for Turkey day weekend. I bought the truck I currently have and the one before that at Broadway Dodge and was very pleased with them too.

Since I'm pretty fussy about what I get, and since I am looking for a 2WD, I will most likely order after the 1st of the year.

Thanks for all the responses

2WD may be hard to come by here in Denver. Check with Chad Sterling, he is their Internet salesman and did good by me.

I am going to Glendale next week so I guess we will be trading places.

Towbin

I ordered mine from Towbin Dodge in Henderson, NV. $800 under invoice less rebates. Ask for Rennie the new car manager, don't deal w/ the sales people and let them know I sent you there he said he would honor that deal for anyone on an order and do better for one off the lot.

Do yourself a favor and call Dave Smith Dodge in Kellogg, ID. Ask for a salesman named "Bear. " They have inventory, and sub-invoice prices depending on rebates which they pass on to you. My 03 3500 Quad HO was $24. 9. They are a web dealer - check 'm out.
