Shopping for Gauges

I recently got some Auto Meters and found them for a decent price on the 'net. I purchased them from GoFast Parts http://store. yahoo.com/gofast/

These are the Ultra Lite series:
Boost (0-35psi) PN 4304 for $44. 99
Pyro (0-1600F) PN 4365 for $99. 99
Pyro Probe PN 5249 for 44. 99
Gauge Mount PN 15203 for 24. 99

Shipping was $7. 99 for a grand total of $222. 95.

Their normal list price for the Pyro gauge was $109 but when I called, he goes "that's a little high--I'll knock $10 off that for ya" and I'm like "great!!"

I called the toll free number on the web page to ask tech questions and to order.

Thought anyone out shopping would appreciate this info. I checked several sources and they had the best price. If you order, chances are not everything will come in one box as items come from various warehouses.

Those Ultra-lites have a silver face with black markings and a red pointer if I am correct, right?

Does anyone know of gauges that match or complement the existing gauges in the console? I think someone said the VDO gauges do, but which model?

I installed VDO cockpit series gauges. They have white markings on a black face with red pointers. With green bulb covers they look just like the instruments in the dash. I purchased the 0-30 boost gauge,0-1600 pyrometer kit, bulb covers, and Autometer dual pod from a local speed shop for $188. 60.

The VDO "Vision Series" gauges match the factory Dodge Gauges EXACTLY. The Pointers are Identical as are the markings, and the lighting. I have a boost, pyrometer, and trans temp in my truck, and you can't tell them from stock.

Yes the Ultra Lites are silver-faced with black hash marks & orange needles. I also though of going black to match the instrument panel, but I like the appearance of the silver instruments with aluminum bezels. They'll go good with my light gray (Agate) interior.

I trial-fitted my gauge pod on the A-pillar and it looks like it will work fine with the tweeter. Position-wise it won't be up as high as I thought, and the gauges will be at a comfortable viewing level.

I purchased the ISSPRO guages (1600 deg pyro, 50 # boost, and 2 guage a pillar pod, and all hookups) and had them FedEx them to me from Diesel Injection for under $200

I called Diesel Injection Service in Lubbock TX. They have an add in the TDR. I'm not home now so I am not sure what page, but it was in issue 25 or 26.

Ordered my pyro from DIS in Texas. The woman I talked to seemed quite knowledgeable. She even told me that the lead was 10ft long in order to have the proper resistance.

vaughn mac, did you get a chance to mount those gauges yet ? that 6. 5 foot thremocouple on the pyro seems a little short to me ...

so many choices , and it's hard to get the best of all worlds , i would like a 40 psi boost guage , and a full sweep pyro up to at least 1500 , but to many people dislike the issopro lighting on the pyro and i don't know if i want to mix and match manufacturers , the banks guages look like an issopro with banks stickers , still the crappy lighting and most all other boost guages are only 30 psi , only a few have higher ... decisions ... decisions ... #ad

Mopar muscle,

Gauges aren't in yet. Thermocouple was BO'd but will be here Friday. Evan Beck & Rob Hanson will help me put them in at the NW BOMBers get-together this Sunday. I'll let you know how it goes!!

Hey Mopar-Muscle,
I have the Isspro boost and pyro guages. I really like them. I don't have any problems seeing them at night. The bulbs that came with them are a little dim,but I'm gonna put in brighter ones... either a 168 or 194.
I also got mine from DIS. The boost goes to 50lbs and the EGT goes to 1500deg and they are both full sweeping.

mike whats the length on the temp probe ? do you have the pryo mounted top or bottom ,( i assume you put them on the A pillar) ...

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I didn't think anyone would ask me questions about it.

Mopar, I put the boost guage on top. For some reason I think if you do a quick glance,the top guage is the easiest one to see. Yes they are in the A pillar.
The probe had about 6. 5 feet of wire hanging off it. I also had wire comming from the guage going into the engine compartment. Needless to say,I had alot of wire left over,so I bundled it up with a tie wrap and drove it like that for a week. I then went back and cut out the excess wire(about 4 feet) and wrapped it in that corrugated plastic for a factory look. It didn't affect any readings to the guage when I cut that section out.

Bmann, My truck doesn't have the tweeters,so I just went with the Autometer pod,and not the new A pillar. I wanted the guages as close to the dash as possible. Painted up it looks great. Most people think its factory
