Oops RDS tank.

By the way What kind of Trailer are you pulling. I have been thinking of switching to a B&W but worried about clearance.

That looks pretty cool. I don't need the tool box, so if they would just make the tank bigger! The fact they tapered that rear lower edge was nice to see. That's all we need! I was happy to see that someone was doing that. I'll keep looking. Thanks!

My 5th wheel camper is an Open Range, Rolling Thunder (toy hauler) Model H341RGR, 35'. It gets pretty heavy with all the toys & fuel. (30 gallons) Our pin box is the extended type for short wheel bases but, we haven't hooked up to the new truck yet. (weather) Pictures forthcoming.

If you have a minute, could you measure from the pin pocket in your fifth wheel plate to the top of bulkhead in the inside your box?
Mine is exactly 36 3/4" to the top of the inside of the box bulkhead to the front opening in the plate for the king pin.
The front edge of the closed coupler jaws in the 5th wheel plate are exactly 37 1/4".
This is an RVK3600 & the pivot arms are to the extreme rear of the horizontal adjustsment in the base.

sorry i haven't got the measurement. it was raining last night and now its snowing. i will get as soon as i can.

I have the 60 gal RDS with top tool box. I leave the gravity fill valve open all the time, and run the main down to about 1/2 to 3/4 before filling both. But it still only takes about 45 (+/-) to fill each time??? Towing that is another 150+ miles of range..

Sorry for taking so long.

The measurement from the rear window to coupler is 37.5 and from inside the tailgate to center is 40. I'm not sure if you are familiar with a pull rite but it slides back about 8 to 10 inches.

I have a Voltage toy hauler and its heavy. lol

Ok, Thanks. So it slides back 8 to 10 inches from the messurements you gave correct? I have seen the Pull Rites but, have never pulled one.
I can see where that would be an advantage...in some cases.

Yes
More the truck turns the farther back it goes. It's great because you only have to worry if you go past a 90 degree turn. The bad side is the bed space it takes up.

I have the same problem.
I am looking at an ATI 46 Gal Auxiliary Tank, AUX46R with the Shots Kit AIK175D so I can use my 3 fold cover.

Just got off the phone with Robert at ATI.
Tank Size 57" Wide 16.5" High 12" deep Must add 2" for fill cap so total is 18.5" High.

Doc, I desided to go this route for now, Lund 50 gallon. I use a Carquest filter, pump. And a simple T roll-over valve in the filler neck. I turn buckled it to the bed tie downs for the time being also.

With this simple switch in the dash for power:

We just turn on the pump when it gets to 1/2 on the gauge in the truck and let it run until it reads 3/4. I will try to go to something more sophisticated later but, this is working quite well right now. 81.5 gallons total.

Stab,
When you have time could you post a pix of how you tied into the fill hose for the main tank.

Thanks

Doc, I used this Diesel Install Kit (puchased on Amazon) from Northern Tool:

http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200625139_200625139

BUT, I only used the filler neck "T" and one way valve in the kit. I was not impressed with any thing else in the kit. The hoses & clamps were junk. The ball valve might work ok but, I replaced it with a heavy duty one from Carquest. They have HD hoses & clamps also. Northern has some pretty good pictures of the kit installed on a Ram. I'm not sure I could get any better. Let me know.

NOTICE: I KNOW this is a transfer fuel tank NOT intended to be used as a aux fuel supply for my truck!

That intergrated switch installed into the FWD switch bezel is NOT for the faint of heart. It took me four hours to install just the switch.
And I really enjoy electrical wiring! It no doubt voided the warranty on that factory FWD switch!
That knob will not come off without the factory removal tool. All "modifications" were done from the back side.

What I was interested in and wanted to see was the location where you put the T in the fill tube.
There is too much snow here to crawl under the truck to explore where to install, and we are to get up to 8 inches more tonight.

How do you tow that Open Range without a slider?
Keep an eye on that tank, it is steel and if too much moisture gets in there, with low fuel in the tank, it will start to rust and cause all kinds of trouble.

On a dually it is pretty simple but, on a SRW I could see where it could get a little cramped. With the one way valve in the "T", the tube has to be as horizontal as possible to work correctly. Not that big of a deal when (if) you have a pump but, important if you decide to gravity feed.

Very carefully!

Yes, the tank will be treated at least twice a year . The biggest reason I wanted a poly tank but, none available @ this tme.
