Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Short kills my MAP sensor

So I'm driving home last night, all of a sudden, "check engine" light comes on. I pull over, check oil, all fluids, etc... everything seems ok. Back on the road, I notice I have no power when the turbo-boost would normally kick in. So what is the first thing I do when I get home? Check The TDR for info. Found out it may be a MAP sensor. Printed that out, and brought it to the dealer this morning. They took it in right away (Herb Chambers in Millbury MA) and found a short behind the alternator that blew-up the MAP sensor.

I'm heading out to the driveway now to find that wire that shorted, so I can keep an eye on it in the future.

Total cost of repair is $158.

More info:

I have a '99. There are several wires off the back of the alternator. Those wires are actually resting on the frame (case) of the alternator. Obviosely, they can rub through the insulation, and short-out.

Check yours!!!!! Put a loom around them, or something to protect them !
