Here I am

Short notice dyno day for RMTDR in Ft Collins

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Winter get together and farewell for Uncle Mike

Colorado Springs TDR members....

I couldn't be there either. I am staying with the girl in the Springs now, would have been a long drive, plus she had to go to the doctor.

Glad to see surgery went well for you Mike! See you and everyone else next Saturday!

Might have been driver error that got R. ebel.

Yours may very well be right in line. How many runs did you do?

Properly functioning clutch, Stage 2 injectors, and timing.

Sticks

Sticks, I did 3 runs. HP was 390, 385, 382. Torque was 911, 909, 918 respectively.

The runs where relatively consistent within the test of just my truck. But from truck to truck who knows.

Trust me, I WANT to believe that I am getting that much hp, but it's too good to be true-- thus, I think it's NOT true. But what do I know? I have never dynoed before.

Here's my thinking:

Stock HO= 245hp (less @ wheels)

EZ= 40-50 hp or so

Even if you figure that my truck was pretty strong stock (since there's so much variance)and that the EZ gave me 50hp (more like 40), that equates to about 100hp from the DD2s.

I suppose it's possible if my injectors are one of the hairier breeds of DD2.

If the numbers are correct, I really makes it more impressive that the OEM clutch is still holding on!

Justin

Hohn,

The 1 thing I see, is that DD2's are 80hp rated injectors for the SO models. I think they produce more on the HO. Not sure how much though.

I'm not defending the dyno. I would be the last person to say that dyno's are accurate. According to hp calculations based on my trucks weight and E. T. or 1/4 mile speed, My truck was between 480 and 510. I landed right in the middle.

Nice to meet everybody. Thanks to everyone that put this on. I was at 397/897 and felt it was a bit generous too.

See ya'll next weekend,

J

I agree, Stake. DD's site shows there to be 15more hp on the ETH with injectors. 75 vs 90 for the DD2s.

Jason, you and I were pretty close in numbers. Hard to believe that the difference of an ETH with DD2s over an ETC with DD1s is that close to being the difference between a comp and an EZ.

Time for a PMAX competition box.

One thing I wish I would have done is disconnected the CAN BUS on my EZ and do one run on just the injectors. It would be nice to know how much power the injectors make vs the box.

Justin

I was just thinking too about the correction factor.

i think using correction factors on a CTD really skews he results unless you are overfueled by quite a bit.

With moderate fuel, you should just run hotter, not necessarily less HP in the thin air. The turbo also corrects a lot of the loss in air density.

So, the combination of a diesel's variable fueling and the presence of a turbo charger means that a correction factor should be WAY different (and much smaller) for a turbo diesel than for a gasser car.

i suspect that synojet doesn't discriminate on the correction factors, and THAT'S why were were seeing results that were a bit high.

But that doesn't explain why some guys got numbers lower than they were expecting.

In the future, I am only going to use uncorrected numbers for baselines and improvement. R. ebel was saying the that CF on my run added about 50hp, which explains why i made 50 more than the real number probably was.

I'll keep you guys updated when I run my truck the 28th in Indy. I have several consistent runs from Colorado and should be able to get a good idea what that means for you guys since the numbers out here are uncorrected.

C'mon Jeff, we need to see your corrected numbers at your elevation. That will take out the weather as a factor, and then we can attribute any difference in your numbers directly to the correction alotted for altitude.

Pretty please, ask to see what the corrected numbers are when you run. :)

Oh, one other thing, don't swap injectors or add twins before you dyno:) .

Matt

Ok, OK, I can do all your requests no problem. Well... ... . all except the last one..... :D You know me Matt, I am on a life quest here for more power. :D :D Actually for this go round my truck wont change any, no time!!

Glad to hear all is well my friend!! Get well quick so your white beast can get you into the 12's this year!! :D

Don't kid yourself. Altitude does effect turbo diesels. Not as much as a gasser, but it still does. Ask the guys that come here to race from a lower altitude. Some lose 2 to 4 tenths in the 1/4 mile when racing at Bandimere.

Stakeman is right, when I sold sno-cats we calculated the tuckers that had the 5. 9's in them lost about 2. 5% per thousand feet. Thats less than a gas engined cat but still signifcant when you are in the mile high city. BTW, the Tuckers were 12 valvers rated @ 250 hp and turbo'd.

On Pisten Bully the numbers were slightly less with the Mercedes Diesel but I couldnt tell you why.

It cracks me up al lthe Ford and Chevy camps that complain aobut our smoking trucks. What are they gonna do when we get enough air in the system to burn all that extra fuel? Complain aobut it being too loud, at least for the 1/2 second that they can hear it as we rocket by... .

I just wanted to thank all of you CTD guys for braving the snow and cold to come out to the dyno day! What a great group of guys you all are. All of us here at CPSC appreciate you attending and all the helping out you do (although we know that Bob just likes doing it).

Alex,

I had quite a few of your members come up and thank me before they left. Please know what awesome people you are dealing with!

Let me know if there is anything that myself or the CPSC can ever do for your club or any of it's members.

I hope to make it down to ATS for at least a little while this Saturday. I will have see how everything plays out by then.

Shay

Shay and her group are great people! I miss em like I do the RMTDR. .

Looks like they are a little bent out of shape right now about us not being 110% sold on their mysterious 520hp PSD. Hey the way I look at it, if we didnt have proof of our trucks laying that down I would expect someone else to be sceptical too. Such is that, I would be interested to see and ride in a 520hp PSD, not that I would ever think about going to the dark side though. :D
