Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) short shifting and APPS

My trans is stock except for a Transgo shift kit, worked good at first and

then it started going right through 2nd into 3rd, very quickly .



(short shifting ) Anbody ever heard of the APPS causing this ?

Or anything else that it could be?

I had this happen to me with my 98 truck. When I installed the kickdown cable I inverted the lever which caused this. The other time was because the governor pressure sensor was going bad. Check for codes to see if anything shows. If not check you kick down cable for play. When you push the accelerator pedal such as with your hand, watch underneath and make sure you kick down lever moves as well. Any play could cause a problem.

Ditto on the the kick down lever, friend put his on upside down and did the same thing. Mr. Goerand helped us out on this one. Thanks Dave!!

Thanks for the good idea, worked on it tonite.

I found the cable fairly loose. Couldn't find the cable adjustment

for the diesel so used the gas example.

It said to set it dead center within 1 mm.



I took that as not to tight , not to loose. I think it looked

as if the cable end had slipped, so I added a little lead to it

to make up the difference. Before that I couldn't get it where I

thought it should be .



If I did it wrong tell me now

Really wanna do it right.

I ended up finding that a little on the tight side on the kickdown worked the best.

transmission guy said some of the linkage might of got bent ,

so you might have to pull on it down below.

Mine worked great tight.
