Well, probably not what you were referring to, but here's what I've tried...
I first installed the Geno's cupholder, and the shifting was fine, except the "jake brake" switch on the shifter would hit the cupholder in 6th gear. After installing the HotBox subwoofer enclosure, I couldn't even get the truck in 4th or 6th gear, due to clearance issues between the shifter and the cupholder.
I opted to customize the existing shifter to fit my needs. I unbolted the shifter, removed the shift knob, and used a torch to heat the shifter and bend it to my liking. It took a few tries to get it just right, but I'm very happy with the result.
Because I bent the shifter so far horizontally, it had the supplemental effect of lowering the shift knob significantly. This reduced the "throw" for each shift, but the shift knob was too low to be comfortable (this in part was because the HotBox sub enclosure I have raised the center armrest by 4").
Shifting was very fast with this lower shifter, but it also felt very notchy and harsh. I ended up getting some 5/8" round stock to weld in, and extended the shifter up to the original height. Below is the finished product (well, before I cleaned up my mess anyway!)

These are not the best pictures, but shows what can be done. The metal was very easy to work with, and only took a couple hours start to finish. I would recommend wrapping the base of the shifter with the rubber insert with a rag, and keeping it constantly doused in cold water while heating with a torch and welding on the shifter. --Eric
