Short throw shifter?

This may be the wrong place for this, not sure but wanted to reach the most eyes. Is there a short shift kit for the early 2nd gen trucks 5spd. I have noticed the newer trucks shifter travel is much shorter than the older ones. Can newer parts be intalled in older transmissions to achieve this?

There is a short shifter made for the Chevy version of the NV4500... don't remember who makes it... it was in the Performance Plus catalog.

I too would like to reduce the throw for shifting. I am surprised that others have not changed this on the 6 speed trucks as well.

I made a short throw shifter for my Cherokee with a nv3500 trans and I am sure that it can be done for the 5600. I took the shift lever and cut the lower end off at the pivot and welded 5/8" piece in between the parts. Then I made a 5/8'" spacer to go between the trans and shift tower. It reduced the traavel by about a third. I plan on doing it to my truck soon.
