I was driving last night when i turned on the radio (aftermarket),,

there was a sound like shorting wires coming from the headlight switch area,,and the headlight were flickering wildly,,,turn off the radio and it went back to normal. .

Now i know those switches are prone to go bad,,,and i did have the recall done... but it seems since the dealer did the headlight switch and ignition wiring recalls,,i have have had 2 electrical problem,,,,this switch problem and the fuel heater caught fire...

I hate to think the dealer might have done something wrong,,,i hate going there but had no choice for the recalls. .

Anyone have any idea as to how i should proceed to fix this.

Thanks

Hooter69,

I feel your pain. My truck has had the light switch replaced at the dealers 3 times, repaired twice for burnt headlight wire and I've replaced the switch once. They will not do the recall 819 on it because it is a couple of months out of the time limits on the recall. I talked them into selling me the recall kit and I will install it myself. I have more problems with this one thing more than anything else on the truck.

Do you have anything else hooked into your headlight switch that might increase the current draw? If so, remove it, or at least put a relay in that line to take the draw off of the switch. If you don't have any shorts I don't know what else more to do. Hope this helps.

The only other thing that could be hooked up to the light switch would be the illumination circuit of the radio,,,could aproblem in the radio cause this,,,i do hear some major hums and bumps in the rear sub woofers with the volume down???

This is starting to get on my nrves,,,

Thanks for your time.
