I hear of many smaller vehicles doing it, like jeeps, but what about us big heavy brutes. Should I be disconnecting my sway bars before hitting the trails? I honestly don't feel that it is inhibbiting me to leave them hooked up but what do I know, I just don't want to break stuff. (I don't have any aftermarket lift if that matters?)

Well, for what it's worth, I had taken my sway bar off completely about a year and a half ago and I have 7" of lift on my truck. I believe it is definately worth it to get maximum flex on the trails, but not sure if it will matter on a stock truck. I have not noticed any difference in the stability of the truck ever since I took it off. To me it made no difference with it on or off. The track bar does a good enough job of keeping the axle under the truck and I don't feel enough body roll to put it back on anyway. Just less front end parts to worry about. :D

If you street the truck, leave it on. Your heavy Dodge needs all the help it can get to control the axle.

Coalsmoke,

I put a 4. 5" skyjacker kit on my truck last year and for some reason my sway bar would hit my drag link. So, the sway bar came off. and has not been in since. I have had no problems with the truck on or off road. I did not notice much difference at all with increased body roll in turns. That may be partly due to the dual shock mount up front.

Front anti swaybar -> disconnect it when off roading.

Rear anti swaybar -> leave it connected both on and off the road (it doesn't limit flex enough to deal with the negative side effects when it is disconnected)

And if you're talking about muddin' I'd leave both of them on for stability

:)

You can get some quick disconnects. Disconnecting the front helps alot with articulation which equals tires on the ground which give you traction
