I bought my truck about a year ago. First truck, first diesel. The truck had the Banks power pack in it. (Banks power pack) It is fun to drive but I want more. I am thinking of taking out the banks kit and not sure what to replace it with. What should I get and can I or should I use any of the banks parts?

NShadbolt,

Need more info on what the truck is doing currently (boost?, egt?, daily driver?, pulling trailers?, etc. ) and what you want from it and are going to do with it (street racing? drag racing? sled pulling?); then we can give ya good info.

I have had the Banks power pack on my 2001. 5 since it had 1000 miles on it. I was not disapointed with the banks, only that I could have got more bang for my buck going a different route. In dec. I had my auto transmission upgraded & also had some dd2 injectors installed. Those injectors really woke up my cummins & now the transmission is getting the power to the ground.

Depending how deep your pockets are if you want to start over. I know alot of guys that have. I'm sticking with what I've got, for I'm right where I want to be power wise.

You have to look at where you want to be power wise & what you want to do with your truck.

With that said I think the Banks system is a good system, just a little to pricey.

With the banks kit I am getting 35 psi of boost, egt's I have never gotten to 1300 but the kit should defuel at that point. I use the truck as a daily driver and for occasional towing. I am just looking for a little more power mostly just for fun. From what I have read some people have problems with this kit if they start changing injectors that is why I am thinking about removing it. It seems to me that it limits your options once you have it.

I really like this kit and it is good if you are starting out stock and want more power w/o the smoke and you are still looking for good Mpg's. I agree that it is not that much bang for your buck, but I got lucky that when I bought the truck it was already in it. I would not have been able to afford it.

If all your looking for is a real seat of the pants feel I would try some injectors. I'm hitting 36lbs boost with adding the dd2's. I have no egt issues since I went with the Scotty II air system. I put a tag in a couple of weeks ago & lowered my egt's another 25* while towing my 32' 5vr also picked up 1mpg.

I have a Banks Power Pack Kit and have installed the Bosch 275 injectors without a problem. I'm getting 38Lbs of boost according to the pressure gauge with 1150 degrees on the pyro. Next is a Piers Cam Shaft and the Afe Mega Cannon and she'll be done for the most part
